Newcastle United ready to make statement in the summer transfer

Newcastle United are reportedly planning to make four major signings this summer, with Barcelona forward Raphinha among their top targets. The Premier League side, managed by Eddie Howe, are said to be keen on recruiting players with proven Premier League experience as well as those from abroad.

According to a report by The Telegraph, Newcastle United are keeping tabs on a host of Premier League players including Moises Caicedo, James Maddison, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice, Conor Gallagher, Kaoru Mitoma, Jarrod Bowen, Ivan Toney, Kieran Tierney, Scott McTominay, and Harvey Barnes.

In addition to these players, the club is also believed to be interested in some of the best players in Europe, such as Gabri Veiga, Moussa Diaby, Marcus Thuram, Victor Osimhen, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The latest name to emerge on the list of potential signings for Newcastle United is Barcelona forward Raphinha. According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the Magpies are looking to take advantage of Barcelona’s financial situation by making a bid for the Brazilian. Raphinha joined the Catalan giants in July last year in a deal worth £55 million.

The 26-year-old forward is reportedly unhappy with Xavi’s decision to play him on the left side instead of his preferred right-hand side. However, Xavi has previously praised Raphinha, calling him the “future of Barcelona” earlier this year.

“He’s a criticised player, but he does a lot and we value him a lot,” said Xavi. “We will always support Raphinha — he’s the future of Barcelona.”

Raphinha has featured for Brazil at last winter’s World Cup in Qatar and has scored 11 goals in 51 appearances for club and country this season.

Newcastle United are hoping to challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League next season, and it appears they are willing to splash the cash to make that happen. The club has been linked with a number of high-profile players in recent weeks, and it remains to be seen who will make the cut as the Magpies look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2023-24 season.
