New Liverpool coach makes €59m request ahead of transfer

As Liverpool approaches the summer transfer window, the club is poised for significant changes. With Jürgen Klopp set to step aside for incoming manager Arne Slot, a wave of new signings is expected to follow.

The final months of the season have exposed several weaknesses in Liverpool’s first-team squad. Injuries to key players such as Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Diogo Jota, and Alisson Becker have disrupted the campaign.

Despite the emergence of young talents like Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley, the Reds struggled in the season’s closing stages, falling out of contention for the Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup.

Nevertheless, Liverpool has secured silverware in the Carabao Cup and achieved Champions League qualification, providing a strong foundation for Slot to build upon. The incoming manager will need reinforcements to bolster the squad.

According to Spanish outlet Nacional, Arne Slot is set to request the signing of RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo once his arrival at Anfield is confirmed.

The Spanish international, who has a release clause of approximately $65 million (£51.4 million/€59.8 million), is also attracting interest from Barcelona despite an injury-plagued season in Germany.

Olmo has started just 20 Bundesliga games in the 2023/24 season, scoring four goals and providing five assists. Capable of playing on either wing or through the middle, the 26-year-old has been capped 33 times by Spain.

Manchester City has also been linked with Olmo, underscoring his recognized talent. Despite his recent injuries, Olmo’s quality is undisputed, and the $65 million asking price reflects his potential impact.
