New Barcelona signings could end up as Free Agents soon

Unfair times for Barcelona in the La Liga this coming season as the league’s regulations could see Barcelona’s signings end up as free agents even before kicking the ball.

According to reports, Barcelona stand a huge chance that risks their new signings becoming free agents should the club find it difficult to register them in line with La Liga rules.

The players who could fall victim to this situation are Chelsea’s former defender, Andreas Christensen and AC Milan’s Franck Kessie who arrived on a free from their respective clubs.

This is due in part to a clause in their contracts, according to reports from ESPN.

The fuel was added to the fire when recently Andreas Christensen changed his social media profile picture to his Chelsea colors and deleted a post he made about Barcelona.

The situation comes as a result of the financial woes facing Barcelona regarding its wage structure that requires the club either selling players or the current players taking significant pay cuts in their current contracts.

A similar issue was faced with the signing of Ferran Torres in January, which led to a few tweaks being made by Barcelona to enable the registering of the player.

Now, with Robert Lewandowski, Raphina and Jules Kounde already being signed and the recent renewals of contracts by Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto unrecorded, Barcelona are now in a race against time to register these players ahead of Saturday.

There is already the case of Martin Braithwaite and Frenkie de Jong refusing to leave the club despite moves to cut Barcelona’s salary cap.

Barcelona still remain linked with Chelsea’s Marcus Alonso with Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta confident in getting all the signed players registered in time before Saturday’s fixture against Rayo Vallecano.

Desperate times await Barcelona ahead of the coming La Liga season.
