Nero Asibelua Foundation Supports Women In The Beauty Industry Through Her 2018/2019 Business Empowerment Scheme
Among the 14 Billion people all over the world who are living below $1 a day, about 70% are women and girls. Women account for about two-thirds of the world’s working hours and earn only 10% of the world’s income. Women produce half of the world’s food and own only 1% of its land. Therefore, it becomes imperative to help women discover and come to the full actualization of their potentials; to empower women in business and career for economic development and nation-building.
The Nero Asibelua Foundation (NAF) is a non-governmental organization committed to steps to nurture and protect the most valuable resource in the world, which is the human mind to make meaningful improvement to the lives of West Africans.
Through the efforts of its principal benefactor, Mr. Nero Asibelua, and in partnership with strategic groups in both private and public sectors, NAF endeavours to execute its philanthropic mandate in earnest, as part of a true desire to realize change for a better West Africa. In view of the forgoing and in demonstration of her commitment to the economic empowerment of women, NAF launched the Nero Asibelua Empowerment Scheme (NAES), an initiative of the Nero Asibelua Foundation which supported 20 omen in businesses with training and resources to scale their businesses.
The skill acquisition and economic empowerment workshop had its first edition held on the 15th of December, 2018 and it was concluded with additional training on the 10th of January 2019 where the women were awarded a certificate of participation and free product for their beauty businesses worth 1,500 USD.
Present at the empowerment summit was the Head of Women Banking Desk of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Mrs. Nnenna Jacob-Ogogo, who took the participant on how to access credit and finance for their businesses. She also presented an array of grants and business finance opportunities that the FCMB Women Desk provides which the women can take advantage of.
The 20 women who are beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme are currently under the Nero Asibelua Foundation Mentoring Initiative through which they will be further exposed to more opportunities and funding to scale their businesses. This is in demonstration of the Foundation’s dauntless commitment to the Economic empowerment of Women for National development.
