NDLEA Website Crashes Hours After Recruitment Portal Opened

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria recently opened up its recruitment portal for a two-week period.

However, just hours after the portal was opened, the website crashed, displaying an error message indicating ‘500 internal server errors’.

The NDLEA, which is responsible for enforcing drug laws and combating drug trafficking in Nigeria, had hoped to receive a large number of applicants to fill various positions within the agency. Unfortunately, it appears that the sheer volume of traffic to the website was too much for the servers to handle, causing the site to crash.

Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy for the agency, confirmed that the website had experienced glitches due to the overwhelming number of applicants trying to access the platform simultaneously. He also reassured applicants that the technical team was working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

It is unclear at this time how many applicants were affected by the website crash, or if any applicants were able to successfully submit their applications before the website became inaccessible. However, it is likely that the NDLEA will extend the recruitment period to allow for those who were unable to access the website to apply.

This is not the first time that a Nigerian government agency has experienced website issues during a recruitment drive.

In 2020, the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) also experienced website crashes and technical issues during its recruitment process, causing frustration and inconvenience for many applicants.
