NCoS warns citizens against recruitment scam

The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) disclosed that it is not presently recruiting and warned the public against scammers.

The Public Relations Officer of NCoS, Mr Francis Enobore, on Tuesday, announced this in a statement in Abuja.

Enobore declared that the explanation became essential, subsequent to desperate efforts by fraudsters to scam credulous citizens seeking employment or their sponsors.

He said, “It has come to the notice of the management of NCoS that some unscrupulous elements are scamming unsuspected members of the public by purporting to be conducting recruitment exercise on its behalf.

“The Service wishes to categorically state that there is no recruitment exercise currently ongoing and that no agent(s), syndicate(s) or private individuals, have been engaged to carry out recruitment exercise on its behalf.

“Recruitment into the Service, when vacancy exists, is usually advertised for qualified candidates to indicate their interest online.

“The exercise is always free and does not involve any financial inducement.”

Enobore urged public members to ignore requests from such groups or individuals, whose interest is to deceive credulous people.

The Nigerian Correctional Service is an arm of the Criminal Justice System domiciled in the Ministry of Interior. The Service derives its operational powers from the Nigerian Correctional Act, 2019.

The agency is headquartered in Abuja and it under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior and the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Corrections Board.

Its vision is to create a correctional system in Nigeria that is able to contribute to meeting the challenges of creating a secure and peaceful Nigerian society through the implementation of humane penal programmes.

The functions of NCoS include taking custody of all persons legally interned, providing safe, secure and humane custody for inmates, conveying remand persons to and from courts in motorised formations among others.
