Nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest climax
As tensions rise across Nigeria, hundreds of police officers and security operatives have been deployed in major cities in anticipation of the climax of the #EndBadGovernance protest, scheduled for a one-million-man march today.
Despite the nationwide broadcast by President Bola Tinubu, urging protesters to stand down, the movement has gained momentum in states like Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, and Bauchi, with organizers vowing to shut down the entire country if their demands are not met.
The #EndBadGovernance protest, which began on August 1 and has seen waves of unrest, calls for a reversal of the fuel subsidy removal, an increase in the minimum wage to N250,000, and sweeping changes to end bad governance.

The demonstrations have been marked by violence, with reports of killings and attacks on both protesters and journalists, raising concerns about the escalating situation.
In Lagos, security forces have fortified key locations, including major bus stops and protest hotspots, while a candlelight procession to honor those killed during the protests proceeded under a heavy police presence.
The #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Organizing Committee has intensified its demands, calling for compensation for the families of the deceased protesters and the dismissal of Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
Sanyaolu Juwon, National Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement, which has been at the forefront of the protests, condemned the arrests of demonstrators and stressed that the march would proceed as planned.
He highlighted the determination of Nigerians to continue their fight for better governance, despite the increasing security measures aimed at curbing the protests.
As the country braces for the culmination of the 10-day protest, all eyes are on the government’s response to the growing unrest, with many questioning whether the demands of the protesters will be met or if the situation will escalate further.
