NASU General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi and SSANU National President, Mohammed Ibrahim said this in a statement on Thursday. This is to urge the Federal Government to address their demands.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the two unions, NASU and SSANU, had announced that they would commence on a nationwide strike from February 5, 2021 so that FG would meet its demands.

The demand, comprised, amending the discrepancies in the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System (IPPIS), delay in renegotiation with government, NASU and SSANU 2009 agreement, non- payment of arrears of the new minimum wage, among others.

The Federal Government met with the union leaders in an attempt to stop the strike, but the meeting ended in a standstill on Tuesday.

“In the meantime, the nationwide strike takes effect from 12 midnight, Friday, February 5, 2021, pending any contrary resolution by the branches.”
