“Nasty person” Former US President Donald Trump Fires Reporter Over Heated Argument
Former US President Donald Trump and CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins engaged in a heated exchange that was captured on camera.
Trump referred to Collins as a “nasty person” after she asked him a question about his past comments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
The exchange began when Collins asked Trump about his previous statements downplaying the severity of the pandemic, to which Trump responded by saying that he had taken the virus seriously from the beginning.
Collins pushed back, asking why he had repeatedly made statements suggesting that the virus was not a significant threat.
At this point, Trump became visibly agitated and accused Collins of being a “terrible reporter” and a “nasty person.” Collins continued to press Trump on the issue, but he refused to engage with her any further and instead turned to another reporter.
This incident is just the latest in a long history of tense interactions between Trump and the media, particularly with reporters from outlets that he has frequently criticized as being “fake news.”
While some have defended Trump’s confrontational style as a necessary tool for holding the media accountable, others have argued that it has eroded the relationship between the press and the presidency, and undermined the public’s trust in both institutions.
