Celebrity barman, Cubana Chief Priest has finally resolved his legal issues with anti-theft agancy, EFCC as he enters into a bond to be of good behavior.
TopNaija gathered that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC had filed charges against Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest for allegedly abusing the naira note.
The parties reached an out-of-court settlement agreement, which was adopted by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The agreement states that Cubana Chief Priest will also conduct sensitizing campaigns against the mistreatment of naira and other financial and economic offenses.
Every two months, he must publish videos on his social media accounts endorsing responsible naira use and denouncing related crimes.
Both sides officially signed the settlement agreement, which the trial judge, Justice Kehinde Ogundare, endorsed Tuesday.
The defendant’s counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), praised the EFCC for their reasonable action in handling the matter after the counsel of the EFCC told the court the parties had reached an agreement.
Ojukwu also admitted his client’s guilt and assured him that moving forward Cubana Chief Priest would turn over a fresh leaf.
The settlement results in the court discounting the charge and Cubana Chief Priest turning over N10 million to the Federation’s consolidated revenue pool.
Under Section 14(2) of the EFCC Establishment Act, 2004, the terms of the settlement agreement also mandate Cubana Chief Priest to carry out thorough and intensive sensitization and campaign against the abuse of coins and notes issued under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act as legal tender.
