NAF airstrikes eliminate terrorists near Lake Chad in Jubillaram

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully eliminated several terrorists in the Jubillaram area, southern Tumbuns, near Lake Chad, through targeted airstrikes.

The operation was conducted following heavy rainfall that forced the terrorists into higher ground.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, AVM Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, stated that the air interdiction mission inflicted a significant blow on the remaining terrorist elements hiding in the region.

Gabkwet explained that Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions had revealed terrorists with salvaged belongings in makeshift shelters. This led to precision NAF airstrikes that destroyed the structures and neutralized several militants.

“The operation’s success highlights the NAF’s commitment to its mandate and to protecting the nation from terrorist threats,” said Gabkwet. “The excess rainfall and resulting swampy terrain inadvertently exposed the terrorists, enabling the NAF to deliver a significant strike.”

He added that the airstrikes had disrupted the terrorists’ central operations, reducing their ability to harm civilian targets.

This successful mission comes as part of a directive from the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, urging all Air Component Commanders to intensify operations against terrorists and criminal elements. The strike at Jubillaram confirms that these efforts are yielding the desired results.
