My mother made it possible for me to achieve my dreams – Young John
Popular Nigerian singer and producer, Young John has narrated how his mother was actively involved in shaping his life into who he is today.
Young John gave a shout-out to his mom for helping him in changing his social life, from being a shy little boy to being audacious.
He disclosed this during an interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchndu. According to him, he was suffering from social anxiety at a young age and it deprived him of a lot of things a young child should have while growing up.
The Dada crooner stated that his mother, who happens to be a psychologist came through for him as she subjected him to therapy to help reshape his life.
He also noted that a lot of men find themselves in such psychologically and emotionally down situations but can’t speak up because society might label them ‘Weak’.
He affirmed his mother’s help by stating that if not for her, he won’t have been able to achieve his dreams
In his words; “I always used to be really shy. Being young, I thought it was a normal thing but my mother is a psychologist she would often talk to me about how to relate with people.
“Along the line, I started getting better but it started getting worst. At some point, I could not attend gatherings and would rather pass through the back door.
“There were so many people and I found it hard. It made me deprive myself of a lot of things. I did not want to be in certain places and didn’t have the courage to do certain things. I had to force myself to snap out of it.
“My mother helped me a lot to overcome anxiety. I called her and she would give me psychology questionnaires. I had big dreams and, if I kept going that way, it would be hard achieving them”.
