After all the raves and hype over the 2022 Qatar tournament, the World Cup is finally here with the games set to kick in this weekend, with every spectator and pundit having their say, including former Derby County manager, Wayne Rooney.

Eyes are set on the predicted favorites in the competition and assumed underdogs who pundits do not fancy going through to further stages of the competition.

For the legendary Wayne Rooney of Manchester United, he predicts Argentina having a good time at the world cup and even going so far to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Lionel Messi and other quality players, according to Wayne Rooney, will help Argentina win the World Cup this year.

He added that Argentina will be dangerous during the competition and that they will be full of confidence after winning the Copa America last year.

Group C includes Argentina, Mexico, Poland, and Saudi Arabia.

On Sunday, November 20, the World Cup will kick off with Qatar hosting Ecuador.

“For me, Argentina are the favourites. Unlike in 2018, they’ve plenty of good, solid players around Lionel Messi such as Lautaro Martínez, Paredes, De Paul and of course Di Maria,” Rooney told The Times.

“Winning the Copa America last year will have given them confidence and has taken a bit of pressure off them. The climate will suit them too.

“The only thing they’re missing is a No 9, that focal point in attack, but I think they’ll be really dangerous.”
