In the interview, Emma Roberts asserts that being the daughter and niece of Eric Roberts and Julia Roberts has hindered her career more than it has helped. The Hollywood actress who recently starred in the Box Office flop that was ‘Madame Web’ opened up about the impact of her famous family, including her father Eric Roberts and aunt Julia Roberts, on her professional journey.
Laughing off the idea that her family connections have smoothed her path, Emma Roberts revealed,
“I’ve lost more jobs than I’ve gained from being in the business. People have opinions, and sometimes maybe they’re not good opinions of people in your family. I’ve never gotten a job because of it, I know I definitely have lost a couple of jobs because of it.”
Emma’s bold claims challenge the common perception that having celebrity relatives guarantees success in Hollywood. While it might seem like a star-studded family tree is a golden ticket, Emma’s experience suggests otherwise.
Her comments align with her previous statements about the struggles of navigating the industry under the shadow of her famous family, but this marks the first time she has explicitly stated that her connections have never secured her a role.
For many aspiring actors, breaking into Hollywood is a formidable challenge, and Emma’s perspective sheds light on the less glamorous side of having famous kin. Of course, not to look far is the decision of Nicolas Cage to change his last name from Coppola to Cage so he could make it in Hollywood.
