“My family can’t help me, I need a kidney donor” Sonia Ekweremadu publicly begs to save her life
Sonia Chinonso Ekweremadu, one of the daughters of Nigerian Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has taken to social media to publicly beg for a kidney donor.
The 25-year-old Sonia, daughter of former deputy Senate president, took to social media to plead to the public, narrating how she got diagnosed with rare kidney disease.
Sonia explained how she had to drop out of her postgraduate studies three years ago because she was diagnosed with a genetic disease, FSGS Nephrotic Syndrome.
Sonia stated that because of the nature of the illness, her family members are restricted from being donors, and aside from that, it has led her parents to face charges directly connected to her illness.
She then begged Nigerians to come to her aid.
She wrote;
“I, Sonia Ekweremadu, hereby appeal to the general public to come to my aid and save my life.”
“I am appealing to anybody to whom it may please to assist me willingly with a kidney donation in the name of God.
The last 3 years have been extremely challenging. The charges being faced by my parents in London presently are directly connected to my illness and have complicated matter for me and my family.
This appeal would have been utterly unnecessary as every member of my family is eager to donate their kidney to me, knowing that I would do the same for any of them. Regretabbly, comprehensive medical examination showed that my case of nephrotic syndrome is a genetic illness and doctors advised against donation from any of my family members, as it would likely reoccur.
