Motorist attacked by Police officer for not allowing him overtake on the highway

A motorist has been attacked by a yet-to-be-identified Police officer after the latter accused him of not allowing him to overtake on the highway.

A motorist, identified as Ella John Elaigwu has issued a complaint after an unidentified police officer has allegedly attacked him for not allowing his police van to overtake him on the highway.

The incident reportedly occurred near Goshen City, Living Faith Church in Abuja.

Eliagwu reported to Daily Post on Thursday, April 21 that the vehicle, with plate number, police (PF 1813 – SPY), tried to overtake him on the road on his way back to Abuja after Easter celebration.

He narrated how the police officer was blowing up his sirens, and before he could tell, he was attacked by the officer because he refused to give way for his vehicle to pass.

Elaigwu said the officer, who was sighted in the viral video, broke his car bumper, destroyed his mobile phone, and threatened to kill him with his gun.

He said, “I was driving along Abuja-Keffi Expressway; the police vehicle was behind me blowing sirens but I couldn’t give him chance immediately as it was tight but immediately there was space, I applied break for him to pass, only for him to overtake me and began to push towards me, till he hit my bumper and I swerved out of the road and parked.

“It would have been a fatal accident; I didn’t make any attempt to follow him, but other people who saw what he did tried to help and stop him; I tried to ask why he almost made us have accident and the man went inside the car, brought out his gun”.

However, when the publication contacted the FCT command, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, stated that the officer’s action was unacceptable but it would be hard to identify him because he was not in uniform.
