Moises Caicedo breaks silence on his horror debut for Chelsea
Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo has seen himself carry the Sports headline news lately owing to his British record transfer to the Blues, and also the saga that plagued his move to Stamford Bridge.
Following his debut for the Blues, it was very evident the world’s eyes would be on him the minute he stepped onto the pitch for the West-London side.
However, his debut against West Ham United was far from the professional debut Moises Caicedo wanted as his game play was marked by pressure to put up a decent performance for Chelsea while the Blues were also trailing by a goal to the Hammers.
The Ecuadorian midfielder’s performance was closely monitored by rival fans and pundits alike in measure of his performance with the British record fee paid to bring him to London. His stats and attitude on the pitch side versus West Ham were judged, with the internet flooding the gates after Chelsea sank out of the game in a 3-1 defeat.
The third goal was the one Moises Caicedo was widely regarded for, with the former Brighton and Hove Albion star playing a role in forcing a penalty against Chelsea after a poor tackle on West Ham’s Emerson at the edge of the penalty box.
Reacting to the underwhelming performance for his new team, the Ecuadorian took to social media to apologize, while also ‘trolling’ rival fans for their reaction.
“It wasn’t the debut that I expected, but I’m happy to get my first minutes with this big club,” he wrote.
“We’ll keep working hard to put this team where it deserves. Thanks to the fans who are supporting me.”
His injured teammates Reece James, Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka reacted to the post as they cheered him under.
