Mixed reactions as Glo staff kills self over depression

Reactions has set in after a Globacom Limited female staff committed suicide over depression.

TopNaija reports that a 47-Year-Old Accountant, Afolake Abiola drank ‘sniper’, a renowned pesticide, to her death after battling depression.

The incident happened on Friday, May 27, 2022, at her residence, at no 1 Abayomi Kukomi close in Osapa, Lekki.

According to a family member, name withheld, “she has been battling depression for a while on account of no husband and no child.”

The spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, saying that the family of the deceased requested her corpse to be buried immediately.

He said, “When the policemen got to the scene, her family members were there and they officially requested that the corpse be released to them to enable them to bury her according to Islamic rites.

“Based on compassionate grounds her corpse was released to her family for burial.”

Many Nigerians expressed sorrow over her untimely death, encouraging others to find joy in the little things.
