Nigeria Wins Best National Costume At Miss Universe

Nigeria’s representative, Mariestella Okpala won the Best National Costume at the just-concluded Miss Universe pageant in Eliat, Isreal.

Okpala had won an outfit inspired by the ‘Mmanwa’ masquerade from Southeastern Nigeria on the international stage.

According to Miss Nigeri Miss Nigeria, she picked the costume because she could see a reflection of her cause in the Mmanwa who is said to protect children and women against any form of abuse.

The costume was designed by Filipino designer, Kennedy Jhon Gasper.
