Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi wins Miss Universe 2019
South Africa’s beauty queen, Zozibini Tunzi has been crowned Miss Universe 2019
The 26-year-old beauty queen beat 89 other contestants to be crowned the new Miss Universe during the pageant held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday.
Miss Puerto Rico Madison Anderson was the first runner up and Miss Mexico Sofia Aragon was the second runner-up.
The final three were asked on-stage: “What is the most important thing you should be teaching young girls today?
Clad in a striking gold and silver gown, Tunzi answered: “leadership.”
Zozibini Tunzi was crowned by last year’s winner, Catriona Gray from the Philippines, who also spoke during Sunday’s pageant, saying the past year has been “unforgettable, life-changing and purposeful.”
The three-hour show was hosted by award-winning comedian, Steve Harvey alongside actress and former beauty queen Vanessa Lachey.
