Messi Just Never Wanted Spain—Vicente Del Bosque

In the GOAT debate, it isn’t any news that prior to the world cup win, Lionel Messi always had his fans in coaches and football managers of clubs, and for former Spain coach, Vicente del Bosque, he doesn’t consider it much of a debate at this point in time but thinks more of his regret at not being able to capture the Argentine for Spain.

It should be recalled that at some point in time, Lionel Messi had the golden opportunity to play with the likes of Xavi and Iniesta for the Spain national team but flunked the idea to feature for the Argentine national team instead.

Vicente del Bosque, who is now a former coach of Spain, acknowledged this while declaring that Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, is who he would pick as the greatest player of all time (GOAT), surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal.

Del Bosque, who guided Spain to their first FIFA World Cup victory in 2010, also acknowledged that he made repeated attempts to persuade Messi to represent Spain.

In the discussion with Ronaldo, he stated that he preferred the forward for Paris Saint-Germain.

Del Bosque told Radio Marca: “The best player I have ever seen is Messi. Between Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, I will take Messi.

“Of all the players I’ve known in so many years in football, for me, Messi, for his consistency and his quality as a player, has been impressive.

“He has had some fantastic seasons and has always led his team forward.”

He added, “I tried everything to get Messi to play for Spain. However, Lionel refused
