Meet the killer of Kabiru Babai – Osun Police reveals

Operatives of the Osun State Police Command have revealed the identity of its personnel who fatally shot Kabiru Babai, a rig operator with the Shekeenah Zelter global concept at Ota-Efun, TopNaija reports.

 

It was gathered that the deceased has a pregnant wife and a four-year-old child. He was brutalized before he was shot dead in the chest at the Ota-Efun area Osogbo.

Babai’s colleague, Adam Ibrahim, 21, who was at the scene of the incident revealed that they were fixing the truck when four police officers in a mini commercial bus (Korope) dragged Babai from under the truck and started beating him.

Governor Oyetola has since condemned the alleged killing of the unarmed truck driver by a policeman in a statement by his Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan. He also called for the investigation of the circumstances leading to the event and charged the State Commissioner of Police to produce the alleged killer and make him face the full wrath of the law.

Earlier today, the Police confirmed the arrest of the culprit, Sergeant, Moses Samuel.

Sergeant Moses Samuel, it was reported, fatally shot the rig operator at Ota-Efun area of Osogbo, on Friday, December 3, 2021.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement made available to TopNaija by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Yemisi Opalola on Sunday.

The Police spokesperson said “The Osun State Police Command in its continued efforts to curtail all forms of indiscipline and unprofessionalism, has arrested and detained the police officer, Sgt Moses Samuel who shot one Mallam Kabiru Babai ‘m’ 33years Yesterday, 3rd December 2021 around Kobogbogboe/Ota-efun Area, Osogbo.

“The investigations and disciplinary actions have commenced and the suspect will be arraigned in court after the completion of the orderly room trial to serve as a deterrent to other officers.”

She explained that the Police Commissioner, Olawale Olokode, has expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and friends and also assured the members of the public that justice will be served in the matter.
