Meet n’ Greet: Atiku, IBB, Abdulsalam in Pictures
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar visited former military Heads of State Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar on Wednesday. The meetings took place at the respective residences of the former Nigerian rulers in Minna.
Atiku, who is also a former Vice President of Nigeria, shared news of the visits on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He stated, “Today, I paid Sallah homage to former Heads of State Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and Gen. Abdulsalami at their residences in Minna, Niger State.”
The visits come amid speculation that Atiku is laying the groundwork for another presidential bid in the 2027 elections. In May, Atiku expressed his intention to continue contesting for the presidency as long as he remains in good health. This statement was made in the context of his efforts to form a coalition with Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and other political parties.
The meetings with Babangida and Abdulsalami are seen as significant, given their influence and roles in Nigeria’s political landscape.
