IT Hurts, I Can’t Get Over It—Kylian Mbappe

The narrative ‘you are only as strong as your weak link’ often times rings true, and in most cases, proves the exception in the theory, but for Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, it is only about time before France’s weak point, Kylian Mbappe is exploited ahead of the final with Argentina.

The attacking instincts of Kylian Mbappe and Theo Hernandez make France vulnerable down the left, according to the former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

The defending champions defeated Morocco 2-0 to secure a spot in Sunday’s World Cup final against Argentina.

For Les Bleus, Hernandez and replacement Randal Kolo Muani each scored a goal in each half.

Rio Ferdinand stands on the ground that if Argentina plays to France’s “weakness,” on the left flank which is Kylian Mbappe and Theo Hernandez, they can win the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

“If you look at France’s weakness, and there aren’t many of them, but their left side is an area of the pitch I thought opponents have been targeting.

“You look at it, a third of the chances they have conceded have come from that side of the pitch.

“Against Denmark, they immediately go for that side of the pitch. One of the things I looked at and thought maybe that could be the reason is you got Mbappe on that side of the pitch, maybe that gives him licence to stay higher up the pitch,” Rio Ferdinand told BBC Sport.
