Mathematically over for Liverpool

Hope can be a dangerous thing, and something Liverpool fans have come to know so very often in their bid for a premier league title.

Twice, they have hoped and chased for the league title, and twice they faltered. Albeit, the current campaign, the 2023/24 season appears to be their third as despite it being obvious that the Reds were no longer in the running for a second premier league title under the exiting Jurgen Klopp, some held the secret belief that a twist was coming down the line in the title race that might see Liverpool surprisingly clinch the title.

If Manchester City have anything to teach Liverpool which for a decade now have so cruelly done, it is to dash whatever hopes the Reds have in winning a title.

Following their 4-0 win at the Cravens Cottage against Fulham, Liverpool no longer have any chance of a shock premier league title win on the final match day.

Prior to the win, the Reds needed City to at least draw one of their last 3 games and lose the remaining two for Liverpool to have a chance of getting into top spot.

It also depended on Arsenal losing to Liverpool’s two arch rivals, Manchester United and Everton in their final two fixtures.

With City’s win, the Reds can only dream of a second spot in the league. Hence, Jurgen Klopp sees the end of his Liverpool managerial career with only one Premier League title win.
