Martin Odegaard sends Manchester City message after 2-2 draw
Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has sent a message to Manchester City following their 2-2 draw at West Ham on Sunday. The result saw Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table cut from six points to four. City, who still have a fixture in hand over Arsenal, are due to meet at the Etihad on April 26.
Manchester City, who won their straight 10th win in all competitions after beating Leicester City 3-1 on Saturday, are hot on Arsenal’s heels as the Premier League title race heats up. However, Odegaard remains defiant, stressing that Arsenal are still in control.
“We have to remember we are still top of the league with everything in our own hands,” Odegaard told Football London. “The same mindset, same mentality to make sure we win the next one.”
The Norwegian midfielder, who initially started out on loan from Real Madrid at Arsenal, has been instrumental in Arsenal’s recent success, providing creativity and stability in midfield. Arsenal have been on a good run of form but have recently seen their form called into question.
Despite Arsenal’s recent success, Manchester City are still seen as the favourites to win the title this season. They have been in excellent form lately, with key players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan in top form.
However, Arsenal will be hoping to cause an upset when they meet City at the Etihad later this month. If they can pick up a win, it would be a huge boost to their title hopes and would put the pressure firmly back on Manchester City.
The Premier League title race looks set to go down to the wire this season, with both Arsenal and Manchester City fighting it out for top spot. It promises to be an exciting few weeks of football, with both teams determined to come out on top.
