Marketing experts lists reasons BBNaija housemates are bad candidates for brand influencing
A marketing expert has given several reasons why housemates of the reality show, Big Brother Naija are bad for business in terms of brand influencing.
Because of their recognition and a high number of followers on social media, many business owners and companies are known to seek the partnership of those housemates, using them as Brand influencers.
A Brand marketer, In a question and answer session on Instagram, noted that BBNaija housemates are an unproductive way of influencing ‘clean brands.’
He was asked what he thinks about influencers that are housemates on the reality show.
According to him, just a handful of BBNaija housemates had found a way to extend their ‘lifespan’ after the run or the season until a new season begins.
The marketer wrote in response, “I don’t use them, they aren’t brand fit for where I work. Maybe if I change companies to a waist trainer brand, alcohol, condom brand maybe, If you work for a conservative brand or a clean brand, the press they bring, the drama, you have to look at that your brand and see if that’s the kind of publicity you want to be associated with.
Secondly, longevity is the issue with them. They are only relevant till the next big brother, only a handful has found a way to extend their lifespan.
Also, they weren’t originally content creators. They just happened to have followers cos of the platform, don’t expect too much in terms of value in content creating, don’t expect at all.
Personally, I won’t sign such one, even the big ones, It;s just more headache. There are just better ways to spend your money, who knows, my view might change. Then alot don’t know how to reinvent themselves and create other value, in terms of this Anto is the only one I’ve used, cos she’s a great host, so that’s one with value.”
