Marcus Rashford to sign new contract with Manchester United

In a major development for Manchester United, the club has reached an agreement in principle with Marcus Rashford to sign a new five-year contract.

The 25-year-old forward, who represents England, has been in negotiations with United for an extended period as his existing contract was set to expire in 2024.

However, any uncertainties surrounding Rashford’s future will soon be resolved as he is poised to put pen to paper on a fresh deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2028. The final stages of negotiation between the club and his representative, Dwaine Maynard, are currently underway.

Despite receiving more lucrative offers from teams in both England and Europe, Rashford has opted to remain at Manchester United, where he has harbored dreams of achieving major honors.

His decision comes as a significant boost for the club at the start of an important week, which is expected to include the completion of the signing of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana before the team departs for their summer tour in the United States on Wednesday.

Throughout the 2022-23 campaign, Rashford demonstrated his vital role within the United squad, regaining top form and contributing 30 goals in 56 appearances across all competitions. He also found the back of the net four times in seven appearances for the England national team.

Rashford has been associated with Manchester United since the age of seven, progressing through their academy ranks. He has since accumulated an impressive tally of 123 goals in 359 senior appearances for the club.

Notably, he played a pivotal role in United’s triumphs in the 2016 FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Europa League.

Last season, under the management of Erik ten Hag, Rashford helped secure another League Cup title and qualification for the prestigious UEFA Champions League.
