Marcus Rashford has picked a bad habit at Manchester United

In the wake of Manchester United’s 2-0 win against Wigan in the FA Cup, former club captain Roy Keane delivered a critical assessment of Marcus Rashford’s performance.

Despite United’s progression to the fourth round with goals from Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes, Keane highlighted concerns about Rashford’s playing style during the match.

While Rashford contributed an assist for Dalot’s opening goal and made several attempts on target before being substituted in injury time, Keane expressed his discontent with the 26-year-old’s performance.

Keane, speaking on ITV after the game, conveyed his high expectations for Rashford, citing perceived shortcomings in the player’s approach this season.

Keane commented,

“I just wanted a bit more [today]. I have high expectations of Rashford – I always want a bit more. He’s played a game here, getting shots away.

“He’s got, I think, one or two bad habits, where he’s stopping the ball and trying the flicks at the wrong time. I don’t think he runs in behind enough.”

The former United captain elaborated on his frustrations, suggesting that Rashford’s performance against a League One side like Wigan should have yielded more impactful contributions.

Keane emphasized the need for Marcus Rashford to convert opportunities and provide additional assists, urging for an improved output from the forward.

Keane scrutinized Rashford’s technique, noting a tendency to halt the ball abruptly, which could potentially make his play predictable and easier for opponents to defend against.

While acknowledging that missed shots are part of the game, Keane stressed a need for a more comprehensive performance from Rashford.
