Manchester United to go ruthless this summer -- Ornstein hints

Reports from David Ornstein indicate that Manchester United has outlined two conditions under which they would consider selling Marcus Rashford in the upcoming transfer window. Despite Rashford’s recent struggles in form, with only eight goals and five assists in 40 appearances this season, the club remains committed to the 24-year-old forward.

Ornstein, known for his insights into transfers as The Athletic’s transfer guru, reveals that United would entertain offers for Rashford if a significant bid is submitted or if the player expresses a desire to leave the club.

However, there is no active pursuit of selling the England international, with United’s preference being to retain Rashford and assist him in rediscovering his peak performance levels.

Last season saw Rashford enjoy his most prolific scoring campaign, netting 30 goals in 56 matches across all competitions, which led to him signing a lucrative five-year contract extension lasting until June 2028.

Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, recently voiced his support for Rashford, urging fans to rally behind the player during his current dip in form.

The Dutchman emphasized Rashford’s potential and called for collective encouragement to help him return to his previous heights.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that Manchester United may be open to offers for several first-team players this summer, citing financial constraints and the likelihood of missing out on Champions League football as factors influencing the club’s approach.

While emerging talents like Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund are deemed non-negotiable, the Telegraph suggests that Rashford could be genuinely considered for a transfer if a credible offer is presented.
