Manchester United target could be stolen by Liverpool

Darwin Nunez

Recent news that have come from the Liverpool end lately, has either been about summer exits or pending contract extensions.

According to latest reports, all that is about to change as Liverpool are said to have swung into transfer discussions for highly rated Benfica striker, Darwin Nunez.

As per the reports, Liverpool are said to be ready to break bank on the signing, with Darwin Nunez to rival the amount spent on Virgil van Dijk in 2018.

The Uruguayan international has a price tag from current club, Benfica that is within the range of €84 million, which translates to roughly $100 million.

If Liverpool does sanction a fee like this, then it would topple their best ever record transfer ever, especially for a club not known to spend big in the transfer market.

With the much talked about exit of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich, Nunez is sighted as a replacement for the Senegalese.

The forward is reported to be able to play as a striker, a left winger in the forward line, which are mostly Mane’s positions at the club in recent seasons.

The reports as gathered, state that Liverpool’s Sporting Director, Julian Ward has entered talks with the Portuguese club, Benfica.

Nunez was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, with Erik Ten Haag reported to greatly value the attacker in his United project.

It remains to be seen which side comes out on top.
