"Manchester United players have a bad attitude" -- Alan Shearer

Manchester United suffered a disheartening 1-0 defeat against Newcastle, further inciting criticism from football pundit Alan Shearer, who called out the players’ attitudes following the lackluster performance.

The match saw Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon netting the sole goal in the 55th minute, sealing United’s defeat despite a late attempt that was disallowed for offside.

Expressing his disappointment, Newcastle legend Shearer voiced scathing remarks about the Manchester United team on the Rest is Football podcast. He lambasted Erik ten Hag’s men, highlighting what he perceived as negative attitudes displayed by a handful of players during the encounter.

Shearer expressed,

“I thought they were a mess, I thought they were terrible. I thought their attitude was awful and it highlighted some of the really bad attitudes they clearly have.”

Citing the need for resilience in challenging moments, Shearer emphasized the players’ commitment and their willingness to support the manager and fans.

He noted,

“There were three or four players who were not prepared to roll their sleeves up and gave up far too easily and didn’t want to fight.”

This isn’t the first instance Shearer has criticized the attitudes within the United squad. Previously, as a pundit on Match of the Day, he remarked on the presence of what he termed “bad eggs” and “bad attitudes” among the team members.

He pointed out,

“When it’s not going for you when you’re a bit tired and you’ve got to roll your sleeves up, there are not enough characters in that team.”

United’s disappointing performance has placed them under scrutiny, with concerns growing about their consistency and resilience.

With a crucial fixture against Chelsea looming, the team aims to bounce back from this setback. Another defeat could potentially see United dropping to ninth place in the Premier League standings.
