Manchester United play hard-to-get with Sofyan Amrabat

Premier League side Manchester United are back to playing the waiting game with Moroccan midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat.

In a surprising twist, Sports journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his social media account that the Red Devils have opted not to trigger the buy-out clause for their on-loan player ahead of the upcoming season.

However, Man United are stated to still hold an interest in the World Cup semi-finalist. This contradicts their unwillingness to not trigger the €20 million buy option that will guaranty a permanent sale of the player from Fiorentina.

With things not clear at the moment if a deal would eventually go through between both clubs, Sofyan Amrabat stands in the position of deciding his next move.

On paper, the Red Devils haven’t closed the door on the midfielder as manager, Erik ten Hag remains keen on keeping Amrabat. The Dutchman cites his satisfaction with the player’s performance last season that earned Man United an FA Cup title versus Manchester City.

It is also worth noting that this could be a negotiation tactics by the premier league side to nab the player for a cheaper price.

However, things could go sideways for Manchester United despite their eagerness to renegotiate.

Right now, the future of Amrabat at Old Trafford is uncertain, especially as Spanish clubs express a strong interest in securing his signature. Could this be the start of a bidding war, or will United seal the deal on new terms?
