Manchester United continue to get plagued by a Hydra of controversies

Stories Manchester United don’t want to be attached with, keeps clinging on to the Red Devils.

First, it was handling the Mason Greenwood saga, and now like a Hydra, two more controversies plagues Manchester United as Jadon Sancho and a recent domestic violence charge facing Brazil international, Antony to bite back at the Old Trafford hierarchy.

It appears as if, with one problem solved, another gears to replace it.

Manchester United is facing two significant challenges with Jadon Sancho and Antony, who both could be out of the team over recent controversies.

Jadon Sancho found himself left out of United’s squad for a match against Arsenal, following comments from manager Erik ten Hag expressing his disappointment in Sancho’s training performances.

However, Sancho swiftly defended himself by releasing a statement in which he denied the claims made by Ten Hag, which could go on to have ramifications for the squad.

He asserted,

“Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue. I have conducted myself well in training this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into; I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn’t fair.”

On the other hand, Antony is currently under investigation by police in both England and Brazil over allegations of domestic violence made by his ex-girlfriend.

Antony has strongly denied any wrongdoing in an online statement and during an interview with a Brazilian TV station.

Manchester United have now confirmed that Antony would delay his return to the team after the international break to address the allegations.

The club issued a statement condemning acts of violence and abuse and expressing its commitment to safeguarding all those involved.

As a response to these challenges, Manchester United fans have now expressed concerns about the lack of depth in their attacking options.

Prior to the 2023/24 season, the Red Devils’ fanbase have expressed concern of the absence of a proper striker in the team’s set up, with the Premier League giants only left reliant on Marcus Rashford, with new signing Rasmus Hojlund out for the first weeks of the season through injury.

However, it appears there is light at the end of the tunnel for United as a potential solution may already be within the club’s ranks in the form of Amad Diallo.

Amad Diallo has been garnering attention for his impressive performances, particularly during his first loan spell with Rangers.

During the 2022/23 season, the 21-year-old was loaned to Championship side Sunderland, where he played an impressive 42 matches and scored 14 goals.

Currently recovering from a knee injury sustained during United’s pre-season tour, Amad Diallo’s return date remains uncertain.

However, United fans are hopeful that he can establish himself as a star performer on the right side of the attack when he does make his return as Jadon Sancho and Antony face uncertain future at the club.
