Manchester United in serious danger ahead of next season

Liverpool’s recent surge in form has put them in contention for a spot in next season’s Champions League, but they face a tough challenge as they try to overtake Manchester United in the race for fourth place.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has won their last five Premier League games, putting them just four points behind United, who have a game in hand. However, a late penalty from Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister gave the Reds a timely boost as the Seagulls beat United 1-0 on Thursday night.

With just a few games remaining in the Premier League season, Liverpool will need to continue their winning streak and hope for some favorable results elsewhere to finish in the top four.

This weekend, Liverpool can close the gap to just one point if they beat Brentford at Anfield. If West Ham beats Manchester United on Sunday, the gap will remain at one point, but the United have the advantage of having a game in hand.

Next weekend, Liverpool is expected to beat relegation-threatened Leicester, while United is expected to beat Wolves. This means the gap will still be one point heading into the final three matches.

Assuming Liverpool wins against Aston Villa and United draws against Bournemouth on May 14, Klopp’s men will end the weekend in fourth place, but Ajax will have a game in hand.

On May 25, United will play their game in hand against Chelsea, which could put them two points ahead of Liverpool. On the final weekend of the Premier League season, Liverpool will play Southampton, while United will face Fulham.

If Liverpool wins and Manchester United is held at home by Fulham, both teams will finish the season with 71 points, but Liverpool will finish fourth due to their superior goal difference.

Despite the odds being against Liverpool, anything can happen in football. However, Brighton could also have a say in the remaining matches as they are just four points behind Liverpool with two games in hand.
