Manchester United have lost everything -- Jason McAteer

Former Liverpool player, Jason McAteer reveals what the defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena now means for Manchester United who have now suffered 3 consecutive defeats on return to club action.

According to the 52-year-old, this means the premier league club has lost its identity as a team to be feared when playing against following their poor start to the season and their start to the UEFA Champions League campaign.

The Old Trafford side suffered a 4-3 defeat to the Bundesliga side, with the Red Devils needing to overthrow a 2-goal deficit at various stages of the 90 minutes to secure the eventual outcome of a 4-3 loss on Wednesday night.

Goals from Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane and Mathys Tel doomed Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side from a promising encounter in Germany.

With 4 losses already in their first 6 games of the 2023/24 season, Jason McAteer analyzes the problem his former rivals have to deal with going forward.

According to McAteer, the Red Devils are no longer a side to be feared in the league or in Europe.

Speaking on beIN SPORTS, the former midfielder notes how the premier league side is far off the old Manchester United side that frightened teams particularly Liverpool even at Anfield.

“No one fears Manchester United anymore. They used to come to Anfield, and it would be like “we are in a game today, we could lose this,”

“We’d never feel like that about anybody, but obviously it was Man United who were dominant throughout the 1990s, so we’d be up against it. They had that fear factor and they don’t have that anymore.” Jason McAteer said.

“Do you know what else they’ve lost with their identity?,

“Their identity is gone and I think sometimes Man United swan around as if it is still there as if they can stroll into someone’s backyard and take it.” the pundit added.
