Manchester United face Champions League elimination

FC Copenhagen leaves the night darker and full of terrors for Manchester United after defeating the Premier League side 4-3 in Denmark.

Things in Group A takes a sinister turn for the 3 teams behind Bundesliga club, Bayern Munich and for premier league side, Manchester United, it looks a lot more dire for the Red Devils.

The pressure continues to build on Erik ten Hag’s reign as manager at the club, and if the Champions League result from tonight’s game between FC Copenhagen and Manchester United is anything to prove heading into the final 2 group stage games, it is that qualification into the round of 16 no longer rests in the hands of the English club.

The Old Trafford side suffered a huge blow to their UCL dreams in the return leg versus the Danish side on road to Denmark at the Telia Parken.

The 20-times EPL Champions crashed out of the tie following a 4-3 victory for FC Copenhagen who had to comeback from a 2-goal deficit to win the tie and move up to second place on goal difference to Galatasaray.

The 4-3 victory leaves Manchester United doomed to the bottom spot and facing an early exit from the Champions League heading into the 5th group stage fixture. In their 4 group stage fixtures, the Red Devils have only come out with a win and 3 defeats.

This leaves the Red Devils desperate for nothing less than a victory in their next two fixtures away to Galatasaray and at home to Bayern Munich.

Failure to earn maximum points however will have Manchester United hoping for favors from either Copenhagen or Galatasaray in their final fixtures in the group.

The Red Devils stream rolled into an early 2-0 lead courtesy of Rasmus Hojlund who turned up on the night to net a brace in the first half to get things going.

Marcus Rashford’s sending off however left United with a terrible evening as their opponents replied with 2 late goals to level the scores shortly before half-time.

Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes thought he had given his team the lead following a penalty kick that was awarded the English side, but a 83rd minute equalizer by Lukas Lerager left things tougher for the 10-men team.

However, it was substitute, Roony Bardghji that ended the night on an even rougher patch for the premier league side, courtesy of a 87-minute strike, shortly before the full-time whistle.

From having their own fate on their palms to facing the risk of group stage elimination, the season continues to take a darker turn for Manchester United.

To survive, they have to do things the hard way by beating Galatasaray and Bayern Munich.
