Manchester United are weak — Guardiola writes off City rivals
Talk about Pep Guardiola giving a honest opinion of City neighbors, you get nothing but an analysis into how Manchester United had a rather poor season in 2022/23 campaign compared to what others might think.
During his pre-match press conference in preview of the Super Cup fixture against Sevilla, the former Barcelona man described Manchester United as being weak while analyzing Sevilla.
This is in reference to Manchester United taking on Sevilla last season in the Europa League where as fate had it, the Red Devils came crashing out from the competition in a hard crash to eventual champions, Sevilla.
Manchester City are set to take on the La Liga club for the first time in the UEFA Super Cup, following their victory in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.
The Super Cup stands a glorified friendly fixture that pits the winners of the Champions League against the winners of the Europa League.
Reacting to facing perennial winners of the Europa League, Sevilla who overcame Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma side on penalties, Pep Guardiola said;
“I have a feeling, excuse my arrogance, that Man City are favourites for the Super Cup. We have quality, but of course we know there are no favourites. I saw the second leg of Sevilla vs United; United were weak, Sevilla can be strong.”
