Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Confirmed XI
Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur is perhaps the most important fixture of the weekend and for match week 14 for neutral fans, considering the many stakes it holds for both sides.
It is a fixture that neither side can afford slipping up on if they hold lofty aspirations for the 2023/24 season.
For Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur team, they hold every intention of getting back into the top 4 chase and perhaps still have the believe they could chase for the premier league title to become real contenders, Manchester City on the other hand, have seen a 4 point gap build between them and North London club, Arsenal.
Any negative result from this tie for either side, could risk further gaps build between them and their rivals.
Spurs currently sit 6th on 26 points, and a win against City could see them leapfrog Newcastle United and Aston Villa to 4th spot, however that is dependent on Villa not scoring any points against AFC Bournemouth.
For City, a loss or a draw means handing top placed Arsenal more advantage heading into the new year considering the Gunners were able to amass vital 3 points yesterday against Wolves to increase the gap from 1-point to 4 points between them and Pep Guardiola’s team.
With a draw against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City could risk the Gunners doubling the lead to 6-points next week should Arsenal come up with a win against Luton Town. A defeat of course, will be worse for the Etihad side too.
Hence, the tie against Spurs becomes a very important clash that the home side or the away side cannot afford sitting back on.
