Manchester City To Stop Selling Stars To Premier League Clubs

It seems Arsenal sitting on top of the Premier League table 5 points clear heading into the world cup really hit Manchester City hard, and now the Etihad side blames their transfer business over the summer as a reason for such with their sale of first team stars, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to premier league rivals.

According to reports, Manchester City is no longer open to doing business with other Premier League teams, particularly Arsenal.

The current champions sold Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to the Gunners and Mikel Arteta’s team in the offseason.

Zinchenko cost £32 million and Jesus £45 million, yet both had a significant impact on Arsenal’s season.

Football Insider reports that City has decided not to sell any more “first team stars” to Arsenal.

This comes after the Gunners took a five-point lead over City in the league standings.

At the club, people are wondering why City would sell to a rival, but it now appears Pep Guardiola will reject any additional bids from Arsenal for players who would “move directly into their team.”

Earlier in the season, Arteta discussed the significance of Jesus and what he brings to the table:

“Those individual actions make a difference in football and Gabi is doing that week in, week out.”

The Arsenal boss also explained Zinchenko’s role in the side:

“We encourage him [to move into midfield] and he’s a midfield player playing as a fullback, it gives us the adaptability and the variety of positions to attack and defend spaces. It’s an extra weapon to have because we are more unpredictable.”

The two teams have worked together extensively in recent years.

When the new owners took control of the Manchester club, Samir Nasri, Gael Clihy, Bacary Sagna, Kolo Toure, and Emmanuel Adebayor all moved from London to City.

Due to the Queen’s passing, City and Arsenal have yet to play each other in a league match.
