Victor Osimhen on his relationship with Haaland

Manchester City are reportedly set to offer Erling Haaland a stunning new contract worth £500,000-a-week, making him the best-paid player in the Premier League. The 22-year-old striker has been in red-hot form for the Premier League champions, netting 42 goals in his debut campaign.

Haaland’s impressive performances have attracted interest from Real Madrid, who are believed to be keen on landing him in the summer of 2024. However, The UK Sun reports that Manchester City are determined to keep the Norway international and will sit down with him at the end of this season to negotiate a new deal.

Haaland’s current contract with Manchester City lasts until 2027, but the club is reportedly planning to extend it by a year to maintain his services. The new contract will see Erling Haaland earn £500,000-a-week, which is a significant increase from his current salary of £375,000 per week.

The striker currently shares the top spot as the best-paid player in the Premier League with teammate Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

According to reports, Manchester City is confident that they can convince Erling Haaland to stay with the club, despite Real Madrid’s interest. Haaland has become one of the most sought-after strikers in world football and has been linked with several top clubs across Europe.

Haaland’s former agent, the late Mino Raiola, had previously hinted that the striker’s future could lie away from Manchester City, but the club is determined to keep him. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly a big admirer of Haaland and sees him as a key player in the club’s future plans.

If the new contract is agreed upon, Erling Haaland will become the first player in Premier League history to earn £500,000-a-week, surpassing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
