Manchester City player injured ahead of Arsenal clash

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has been ruled out of the club’s upcoming clash against Arsenal, following an injury he picked up during their 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week. The Dutch international suffered a hamstring injury, which will also see him miss the first leg of the club’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City boss, confirmed that Ake would not be available for the top-of-the-table clash with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, adding that he was unsure if the defender would be able to return in time for the Real Madrid game.

“Nathan Aké won’t be available vs Arsenal. Hopefully he can come back soon. Back vs Real Madrid? I don’t know… We will find the right player to do it. I don’t have doubts. We’ll play with 11,” Guardiola told reporters.

The loss of Ake is a major blow for Manchester City, as the club looks to continue its strong form and secure a victory against Arsenal. The 26-year-old defender has been a regular feature in the City lineup this season, making 13 appearances in the Premier League and playing a key role in the club’s impressive run in the Champions League.

Ake’s absence will likely see Aymeric Laporte or John Stones come into the starting lineup, as Guardiola looks to maintain City’s impressive defensive record.

The club currently sits second in the Premier League table, with 70 points from 30 games, and has also progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the second time following a defeat to Real Madrid last season.

City’s match against Arsenal is scheduled for Wednesday night and is expected to be a closely contested affair, as the Gunners look to secure a premier league title since 2006.

With Ake sidelined, Guardiola will be hoping that his side can continue its winning run and secure all three points in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
