Manchester City face title set back over Kevin De Bruyne
The 2023/24 season is developing to be quite the nightmare with players picking up injury challenges from every angle, and currently Kevin De Bruyne joins a list of players to be out for a long period of the season.
Following an injury the Belgian picked up against Burnley, the Manchester City skipper will miss the whole year upon the resumption of the premier league season.
This was confirmed by Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, in his pre-match press conference ahead of the fixture versus Sevilla tomorrow.
According to Guardiola, Kevin De Bruyne will be out for a ‘few months’ as his injury is termed ‘serious’.
The Spaniard was quoted as saying;
“Kevin will be out for some months, we will decide on surgery in the next days with medical staff”.
“In that case, three or four months out”, Pep added.
This leaves Manchester City in a very delicate corner heading into the new season as they are set to miss a very crucial player within their ranks, just when their premier league rivals are strengthening for the season.
Chelsea have garnered reinforcements and will be looking to be a real threat, while Arsenal despite the injury set back of Jurrien Timber, will be on the market for a new defender.
It is however worthy to know that Manchester City have once being in a situation like this that had them lose Kevin De Bruyne for the whole season yet ended up stealing the League title from Liverpool.
It will still be of interest to see how Pep Guardiola works his magic to weather this storm, and if he will.
