"Manchester City face relegation" -- Former financial adviser claims

Former financial adviser for Manchester City, Stefan Borson, has agreed that the club amidst allegations facing the club over Financial Fair Play rule breach that the club could face only one outcome if found guilty.

According to Borson, that means relegation for the Pep Guardiola led side if the alleged 115 breaches charges come out negativity for the club.

The charges, brought forth by the Premier League in February last year, span a period from the 2010/11 to the 2017/18 seasons.

While Premier League chief Richard Masters did not confirm the exact date of the hearing during a recent questioning by a Select Committee, he did acknowledge that the case was progressing.

The potential consequences of the charges, if proven, range from points deductions to the drastic step of relegation from the top division.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Borson highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating,

“The scale is on a completely different level [to Everton and Nottingham Forest]. There can be no question that, if these charges are proven, this will end in at least relegation. There is the suggestion of conspiracy over, effectively, a 10-year period.”

Borson went on to express skepticism about the alleged conduct occurring over such a prolonged period, involving individuals connected to Manchester City and related companies.

“It seems to me to be highly unlikely that the conduct is alleged has taken place over a 10-year period with the sorts of individuals that are involved in the club and in the companies that are involved,” he said.

He also emphasized the significant challenge for any court or tribunal to assert dishonesty and perjury against numerous individuals, including executives, third parties, and potentially even senior members of foreign states.
