Manager of Lobi Stars, Barnabas Imenger, is dead

The manager of Lobi Stars and Ex-Super Eagles striker, Barnabas Imenger, is dead.

The media officer of the team, Austin Tyowua, on Monday, affirmed the death of Imenger to Top Naija.

“Yes, he is dead,” Tyowua disclosed while affirming the demise of the former Eagles striker.

He declared that the former Eagles striker passed on in the early hours of Monday after a prolonged ailment.

According to a statement by Tyowua announcing Imenger’s death, he said, “With heavy hearts, but total submission to the will of God, the Board and Management of Lobi Stars Football Club regrets to announce the passing on to the glory of Mr Barnabas Imienger who died in the early hours of 22nd March 2021 in Abuja after a protracted illness.

“He is survived by two immediate children, several siblings, and mother. Burial arrangement will be communicated as soon as the club and his family collectively come out with a position.”

Barnabas Nenen Imenger was born 24 November, 1991. The previous International until his demise was the Team Manager of Lobi Stars, FC Makurdi, the club he filled in as a player and coach throughout his football career.

Imenger recently played for MC Alger in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle. He is the son of former Nigeria International Barnabas Imenger.

He began his Football profession in Makurdi with HMB FC, and moved to BBL Hawks later to be named as Lobi Bank FC and now Lobi Stars.

He was loaned to Kano Pillars F.C. at the beginning of the 2015 season, but was recalled in July. He was called up by Coach Stephen Keshi for a new batch of Super Eagles in January 2012 and debuted in a 0-0 friendly against Angola. He also played in a 3-2 friendly loss to Egypt.

Imenger proceeded to play for BCC Lions FC Gboko, El-kanemi Warriors FC Maiduguri. He was likewise a member of the Senior National Football Team, Super Eagles of Nigeria. He also played professional football in Saudi Arabia.
