The 2021/22 season is one Man United would want its fans to forget quickly as they gear up for next season. And looking to make amends, the club has organized a Charity fixture against eternal rivals at Old Trafford next weekend.

It certainly could be a grudge match that could see the United legends avenge the 9-0 aggregate defeat this season on Liverpool’s club legends. And to that respect, the Merseyside club has announced the squad to feature at Old Trafford.

Well, if the young boys can’t do it, let the old men handle.

The LFC Legends side play their north-west rivals on Saturday, 21 May – the day before the final day of the Premier League season.

There are some new (old) names in the list of the squad, particularly as regards those who haven’t previously lined up for the LFC Foundation’s legends side, including Andriy Voronin, Mark Gonzalez, Yossi Benayoun, Jermaine Pennant and Gregory Vignal.

The confirmed squad though doesn’t feature Jamie Carragher, but Reds legend did confirm he will be present for the fixture on Twitter though it’s uncertain if he will play.

The charity match, features on the Man United end, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Dimitar Berbatov and Antonio Valencia in a bid to raise funds for the Man United Foundation.

This Is Anfield, a Liverpool supporters’ page understands that Liverpool will host United’s legends in a reverse fixture at Anfield later in the year too.

Confirmed squad (so far) for the game are Liverpool’s legendary goalkeepers: Jerzy Dudek, Sander Westerveld, defenders: Bjørn Tore Kvarme, José Enrique, Fábio Aurélio, Grégory Vignal, Abel Xavier, midfielders: Salif Diao, Momo Sissoko, Mark González, Luis García, Yossi Benayoun and forwards: Jermaine Pennant, Stewart Downing, Maxi Rodríguez, Dirk Kuyt, Andriy Voronin
