Man United hierarchy eye Erik ten Hag replacement

Reports from Spain have suggested that Carlo Ancelotti, the current manager of Real Madrid, has been approached as a potential candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

The English club has faced a challenging start to the new campaign, currently positioned in 10th place in the Premier League table, and experiencing difficulties in Europe, sitting at the bottom of their Champions League group after consecutive losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

The mounting pressure on Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford has led to speculation about his future. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s reported assurances of job security for ten Hag if he takes on the role of sporting director at the club have not stemmed the tide of rumors.

Spanish outlet El Chiringuito recently published a report, indicating that Carlo Ancelotti might be in consideration for the Manchester United managerial position if he decides to depart from Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Benjamin Lopez, a prominent journalist, shared insights into Ancelotti’s decision-making process, stating,

“Ancelotti has two things decided about his future, one is that if they offer him a renewal he will remain at Madrid. Brazil can put whatever they want on the table, he will stay.”

Lopez went on to disclose that, aside from a possible renewal in Madrid and an offer from the Canadian National Team, Ancelotti has also been verbally approached by Manchester United in the Premier League.

“He has a house in Vancouver, and his wife is Canadian, so he would be delighted with that,” Lopez mentioned, indicating Ancelotti’s connection to Canada.

Nevertheless, it is reported that Ancelotti has reservations about returning to the Premier League, considering his previous stint as the manager of Everton from 2019 to 2021.
