Man United had a Brighton start to the Season
Man United had quite the Brighton start to the season as the club’s first game of the season and new manager, Erik ten Hag’s very first official game began with all the attributes of United’s prior season.
It’s the 2022/23 season, and the first commentary you are looking for is the one by Peter Drury, but sadly, Peter Drury is retired from giving Premier League commentary.
But hey’ it’s a new season, same Manchester United as the club had a Brighton start to the new season with a family face of last season.
The media felt a new era was dawning at Old Trafford with the arrival of Erik ten Hag, they had quite the flare in pre-season as they ran rout against Liverpool and a few clubs ahead to the premier league start date.
Every Man United fan had their hopes high for the season, predicting very much a favorable season, and clapping at reports of their Dutch manager taking his job very seriously with a no nonsense approach.
But sadly, the new premier league season, had quite the no nonsense result to welcome the Dutchman in his very first official game in charge in the premier league.
It would look like Brighton and Hove Albion are becoming the familiar foe or rather a torn in the flesh of the Red Devils, and like they say, too much of familiarity breeds contempt.
This is very much becoming the case as before today’s fixture, Brighton had done Man United one last season with a 4-0 trashing of the Old Trafford side towards the end to the 2021/22 campaign.
And yet again, the same side comes again to remind them of their rivalry with another defeat but this time a 2-1 defeat.
It might be seen as quite the progress based on the score line but for the United fans who would have watched the game, they basically would have seen the sparks of the prior season coming all too early in the start of the season.
The villain, was definitely a Pascal Gross who scored a brace against Man United to Brighton the Red Devils’ start to the season with 2-0 deficit before half time.
But it was MacAllister’s benevolence of an own goal that reduced the deficit for Man United to end the game at 2-1 full time.
Cristiano Ronaldo as usual, had the expression on the bench that will surely make the headlines for quite some time.
Man United so bad Ronaldo needed a reason to laugh against Brighton
