Man United cancel Annual ceremony over embarrassing season

Manchester United will rather not be reminded of this season

Manchester United are famed for having an annual awards ceremony to gift out awards for its best performing players during the course of a season, but as the Premier League season draws to a close, the Manchester club have scraped those plans.

The club feels they can’t hold such ceremony following their worst-ever Premier League season in history as it would serve more of an insult to the institution as a whole and to the fans.

United have regularly held the end-of-season award ceremony for more than a decade.

The gala dinner is most often held at Old Trafford, which is usually scheduled for the final fortnight of the season. During said event, the club’s outstanding players, both in first team and youth level are awarded for an impressive season.

But now, it is believed the Man United players are too embarrassed to hold the event, which will be broadcast by the club’s in house TV channel; MUTV, following an embarrassing campaign.

United will finish outside the top five in the league and are confirmed not to play in the Champions League next season.

The turmoil that started with former boss, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer who was fired in November, will see an end as interim manager; Ralf Ragnick end his short spell with the club, hopeful for at least a final day victory.
