Man slumps, dies on the spot on busy road in Port Harcourt
A yet-to-be identified man reportedly passed away after he slumped by the roadside in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The incident occurred in the afternoon on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, along Rumuigbo Junction in Obio-Akpor local government area.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the man, believed to be in his 60s, suddenly fell to the ground while he was heading to an unknown destination with a black bag. Despite struggling to stand up, he was unable to do so. Shockingly, onlookers reportedly resorted to taking pictures of the incident instead of making attempts to revive the man or take him to the hospital.
“This afternoon, the man was walking by the roadside. Later he fell down. Some people gathered around him. He was struggling to stand up but couldn’t. He later died.
“Nobody knew him. People were afraid to touch him because if police come now they may arrest you for questioning. So nobody wanted problem. The man died there,” an eyewitness, Grace explained.
The state police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that the command has ordered an investigation into the cause of the man’s death.
Popular Ibadan-based Radio Presenter Dies While Trekking to Work
In related news, a popular radio presenter known as Baba Bintin reportedly slumped and died while on his way to the office. Baba Bintin, who worked at Fresh FM in Oyo State, was said to have been trekking to work on Saturday morning when he suddenly collapsed.
According to Vanguard reports, the staff at Fresh FM had expressed concern about Baba Bintin’s unusual lateness on air during a radio program hosted by Komolafe Olaiya and Olalomi Amole, popular radio twins. However, before concluding the program, Komolafe and Olalomi announced the sad news of Baba Bintin’s death, stating that he died while trekking from Amuloko to Fresh FM at Challenge with the hope of getting a POS terminal to withdraw cash.
An eyewitness who spoke with the station revealed that Baba Bintin was found passed out on the road and was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), but was confirmed dead on arrival.
The sudden deaths of the unidentified man in Port Harcourt and Baba Bintin have left many in shock, and investigations into the causes of their deaths are ongoing.
